Artfully Done

Continuing on the theme of emotional minimalism that was seen on the New York Fashion Week runways, the industry’s European counterparts furthered the notion of taking wardrobe classics to the next level. With that being said, the extras were far from kitschy or whimsical as seen in seasons past; this time around, designers leaned into color play with interesting pairings, artful cut-outs, singular outfit statements––whether that be stacked bracelets or a head-turning cobalt blue jacket––and an array of abstract prints.

Working for It

No matter the season, suiting and workwear is a mainstay; but, the Spring/Summer 2026 runways offered us a juxtaposed take. For example, we saw Loewe play with sculptural structure while Versace, Fendi, and Saint Laurent gave us their renditions of office attire in the eighties, and Miu Miu took us to darker days in Women’s history, reflecting on factories and responsibilities within the home by showcasing aprons and muted hues. Meanwhile in New York, ties were the ultimate accessory, seen on runways like Ralph Lauren and Coach.

Riviera Romance

This season, the feminine touch felt undeniably elevated, rather than a dose of whimsical girlhood. The overall aesthetic felt refined, as if ready for a summer romance in the French Riviera per se. Across cities, we spotted watercolor prints and vintage florals, subtle shades of pink and wine, elegant draping, lingerie details for daytime, silk scarves styled in both hair and around the body, and classic A-frame handbags. Beauty looks felt aligned with rosy hues, skin-forward make-up looks, and undone waves.

Crash Out

What do you do when the world seems overwhelming? Well, for some it may be work while other it could be escapism, through travel, partying, or even esoterics. For example, in New York, Off-White’s return took to a sports lens with debatable political meaning underlying in their color choices, while in Paris, we saw Balmain continue bohemia through a new lens by tapping into talismans like crystals and shells. Overall, deconstructed styling and worn-in fabrics––knits, leather, and denim––carried the message of this trend story across cities.
