Women's outerwear is seeing nostalgic updates as inspiration from the 90s and early aughts is bringing back classic trends to the womenswear market. Tweed, leather and maxi lengths are making an appearance this season with a heightened interest in red and brown hues, too.

Leaning into the moto aesthetic, leather jackets are the must-have item for consumers’ wardrobes this fall and winter. We are seeing an increased interest in brown leather jackets as worn leather looks are a TikTok favorite trend. Up +28% to last year, brown leather jackets have 13K average weekly searches and growing with +40% market adoption to last year.  Expect to see these jackets resonate throughout the next year.

Faux fur coats are the perfect statement for the colder months. Whether it's faux fur trim or all fur coats, this emerging trend has an extreme search volume up +861% to last year -- thanks to its appearance in the TV show Daisy Jones and the Six. Market adoption is up +25% in the last 30 days as retailers like Urban Outfitters, Michael Kors and Revolve hop on this trend and play with texture within their assortments.

As seen on the FW23 and SS24 runways, red is making a comeback as a top color trend for the next year. We are seeing this resonate within shoes, accessories and outerwear in a big way within the womenswear market. Red coats are a safe bet trend up +277% in searches to last year with low to moderate discount levels. Red trench coats, red plaid jackets and red leather jackets are leading the way in the market.

Long-line jackets are having a moment in the fashion industry as maxi skirts and maxi lengths make their way back into mainstream. Trench coats are a cold weather necessity, but in particular, consumers are on the lookout for waterproof trench coats – perfect for chilly walks around the city. This trend is experiencing accelerated growth, up +65% to last year, and has low products in the market.

Tweed is a classic fabrication that will always remain prominent during the colder months, and thanks to Barbiecore, tweed jackets are emerging as a consumer favorite this year. Most saturated in the luxury market, tweed jackets have 20K average weekly searches, up +20% to last year, with market adoption up +74%. Brands like Balmain, Versace and Chanel -- of course – are top performers for this trend.
