Fashion Month Fall/Winter 2024 Street-Style Trends
During the Fall/Winter 2024 Fashion Month, we saw both new trends as well as beloved viral trends take place IRL on the streets from New York to Paris. Below, discover the top street-style trends from FW24 Fashion Month that will continue to rise in popularity this year.
Color of the Moment (Continues)
Red continues to reign supreme on the both the streets and runways. As the pink fatigue has set in, cherry red was the most notable hue among showgoers––while new hues of red were introduced on the runways––with market adoption up +22% in the last 30 days. A popular look, red tights are growing in popularity on TikTok with social buzz up +683%. Other pops of red included red kitten heels (+213% to LY) and red bags (+95% to LY) that brightened up otherwise neutral looks. Additionally, red lips remained past the holiday season and are up +32% to last year, too.
Prints Aren't Dead (Yet)
While the runways are majority sans print, the streets were a different story. Cheetah print has strong online engagement as the Mob Wife aesthetic on TikTok has revived this print and has dubbed it a new “neutral." Particularly seen within suiting, pinstripes (+39% to LY) continue to stay strong as a timeless trend while bold plaids (107k Avg. Weekly Searches) made a statement.
Styling Masterclass of It-Items
Every fashion week, there are key items that seem to pique the interest of the street-style set, resulting in mass adoption from this group. For example, micro shorts have become a street style staple, searches up +140% to last year, paired with tights and heels. Thanks to the 80’s “officecore” trend, suiting in both men's and women's continues to grow in the market and now brooches are making a comeback with +449% market adoption to last year––a top suiting accessory along with silk ties (+18% to LY). Plus, kitsch accessories such as statement socks and funky bags––like the Thom Browne dog-shaped handbag––were popular across cities.
Moody Makeup
Within beauty, we saw moody makeup take to the sidewalks, particularly with a dark lip. Dark lips are up +12% to last year and we saw this manifest with showgoers wearing dark wine to black lipstick. As for the eyes, graphic eyeliner (3k AWS) and dark shimmer eyeshadows (13% to LY) were favorite looks, too.
Girlish Hair
Hair trends felt elevated with a girlish flare this fashion month as we saw hair bows (+1,012% to LY), Italian bobs (+145% to LY) and everything in between. Slicked back buns were a popular style up +53% to last year––thanks to the Balletcore aesthetic on TikTok––and rose gold hair made a striking appearance at various shows; rose gold hair has 12k average weekly searches and is expected to emerge in the coming months.
