HIGH-SHINE

Shimmering swimwear pieces proved popular at Miami Swimweek in a variety of iterations; gilded fabrications in shining golds as well as metallic hardware accents––like belts and chains at Palondré––added sun-worthy shine. All over sequins looks from sequin bikinis (+336% to LY) to sequin cover ups—note Oséree—upped the glam factor with a fresh-feeling finish.

ARTISANAL DETAILS

Artisanal details updated traditional swim silhouettes with head-turning beading, embroidery, and embellishments. Oceanus and Leslie Amon executed this trend beautifully with extravagantly beaded bikinis, up +45% in market adoption to last year, and embroidered pieces featuring beach-worthy designs and kitschy prints that included fruits and sardines, too.

MERMAIDCORE

Mermaidcore (+13% in Social Buzz) was undoubtedly a buzzword during Swim Week—mermaid-approved pieces saturated the runways with reimagined tropical motifs, shell bikinis (+105% in Market Adoption), starfish prints (+13% in Market Adoption), and crochet bikinis (+21% in Market Adoption), too. Brands like Oceanus and the Salty Mermaid curated deep-sea inspired pieces, often seen in shades of blue such as turquoise (+7% to LY) and cobalt (+67% to LY).

SKIRT SETS

Within cover-ups, matching shirt and skirt sets proved to be the new classy go-to within resortwear. Both knit maxis and printed wrap skirts were paired with a variety of tops like an oversized, collared button up shirt, easy to pull over a wet bikini and beach-to-bar approved, notably seen at Sigal.

RETRO-REWIND

Retro-feeling swimwear and accessories brought a modern nostalgia to the runways. Striped bikinis (+38% to LY) and polka dot bikinis (+187% to LY) felt preppy and Euro-summer approved, often featuring a matching headscarf (+48% in Social Buzz) and swim cardigan for extra sun coverage. Also, swim shorts (+9% in Market Adoption) and skirts (+19% in Market Adoption) reminiscent of the sixties made an appearance at Montce and Monday Swimwear.

And with a variety of animal print bikinis (+38% in Market Adoption) giving “mob wife”—like at the Salty Mermaid show—chocolate brown (+48% in Market Adoption) and rust (+14% to LY) were standout colors, too.

SUBTLE STRAPS

Straps were statement-makers across the board in swimwear. We saw double strap bottoms at Montage that gave the illusion of wearing two bottoms (+18% in Market Adoption), and peek-a-boo thong straps at Oh Polly. Halter swimsuits (+13% to LY), asymmetrical pieces, and monokinis (+15% in Market Adoption) featured subtle straps that elevated each look without feeling over the top.
