NYFW Recap SS25

Screen Shot 2024-09-13 at 11.59.23 AM-1

The Spring/Summer 2025 season lacked the girlish charm that was prevalent throughout recents Weeks––instead, designers embraced those cheeky trends (bows, ruffles, micro-shorts, to name a few) in a more grown-up way. Yet, that doesn’t mean the runways were without personality––we saw plenty of fringe and plays on texture, mix-and-matched prints, creative styling with accessories, and a fresh color palette that kept it all exciting.

Americana

Whether it be from the lens of prep or sports, Americana influence was a consistent theme across the brands of New York Fashion Week. Of course, Ralph Lauren felt quintessentially Americana with his show hosted in the Hamptons while Proenza Schouler put a modern twist on a classic prep look with asymmetrical cuts. Off-White took a sporty approach with racing stripes, red hot hues, and other sporty styling cues.

Minimalist, But Better

This season, collections felt undeniably minimalistic––designers offered tried-and-true pieces while updating them with their own creative spin: think styled-for-you layering, peek-a-boo layers on classic skirts, taking staple denim to the next level with embellishment or painted detail, and leaning into nostalgia with tailoring that tapped both the ‘60s and ‘80s. Rather than whimsical trends like oversized bows and doses of hot pink, this season felt rather grown up.
