Interior Design Trends 2025
Within interiors, consumers are curating spaces inspired by natural elements, texture, and design cues from around the world and even decades past. Below, discover the top trending aesthetics within interior design set to influence the market for the year to come.
ADDING TEXTURE
Rather than a pop of color, consumers are testing out pops of texture to bring visual interest to their space. Furniture like the chenille couch (+13% to LY), wool couch (+24% to LY), and velvet lounge chair (+5% to LY) offer a soft touch and eye-drawing appearance. Thrifted furniture (+233% to LY), whether it be a jacquard couch or retro loveseat, is on the rise for this reason. Texture can be added via pillows and throws, too, like the tufted pillow (+1,557% in Market Adoption), beaded pillow (+15% to LY), or knit throw blanket (+681% in Market Adoption). And, this trend doesn’t only apply to furniture; rather, textured wall papers are in high demand, experiencing +5,000% in market adoption to last year, and decorative plaster is key, as well.
NATURAL MATERIALS
Consumers are finding a new way to bring the outside in––whether it be through European woods, stone accents, or repurposed natural materials. Currently, rattan furniture is top of mind for consumers––up +233% in social buzz––with rattan chairs, dressers, and tables becoming in-home staples. Bamboo pieces are popular, too, like the bamboo bed frame (+73% to LY)—a safe bet trend—often seen in a dark walnut stain. In addition to seating and typical furnishings, a variety of wooden shades and light fixtures are saturating the market; woven wood shades (+21% to LY), jute chandeliers (+14% to LY), and wooden beaded chandeliers (+20% in Market Adoption) are on the rise, leaning into the bohemian aesthetic. Other materials like organic gauze are being utilized around the house, such as gauze curtains (+136% to LY) for windows and the shower. An earthy color palette is complimentary to natural materials via shades of green and incorporating warm nudes, yellows, blues, and unexpected pops of burgundy, which is an up-and-coming trend for the year.
AT-HOME ESCAPE
A home is a safe haven from the world, offering peace and serenity. We are seeing this mindset become a leading factor in how consumers decorate and design their homes; think curating neutral spaces, incorporating calming colors, and allowing plenty of sunlight are must-haves. We are seeing spa-inspired bathrooms (+252% to LY) that promote relaxation and personal wellness continue to grow in consumer interest via luxurious tubs, shower plants, and expansive shelving for towels and skincare. Along the same lines, aromatherapy, popularly used for mood boosting or relaxation, is +146% in market adoption to last year, and we are seeing this reflected in the demand for essential oil diffusers (+20% to LY) and incense (+21% in Market Adoption).
WORLD INFLUENCE
Influences from around the world are inspiring consumers right here at home. From China, feng shui decor (+32% to LY) is popular for those who want to curate spaces with beautiful things that promote chi and allow for a well-balanced room. This involves the positioning of furniture, and representing the five elements—wood, fire, earth, metal, and water—around the house. Taking cues from England, oxford tables that feel traditional with a modern twist are having a moment, up +557% in searches to last year. Terrazzo flooring (+50% to LY), having roots in Turkey and Italy, is making a comeback alongside patterned ceramic tiles (+23% to LY) reminiscent of Spain.
