Gran Canaria Swim Week featured local and international designers on open-air catwalks by the ocean, and we’ve gathered the top 10 trends to know from this swimwear event—supported by Trendalytics data.

1. Wavy Hair

A color we’ve seen rise on the SS26 runways this past month is set to make a splash within swimwear, too. Hibiscus red was seen across collections at Gran Canaria and is already experiencing +19% increase in market adoption to last year.

2. High-Waisted Bottoms

Across collections, high-waisted bikini bottoms made their case as the silhouette to watch. This retro style is seeing a modern update with mesh details and contrast color plays; searches are already up +35% to last year.

3. Cool Cut-Outs

Designers played with cool cut-outs to elevate bikinis and one-piece looks. For example, we saw side cut-outs on one pieces—a trend with over 3M views on TikTok—and strappy cut-outs on bikinis, oftentimes featuring metallic hardware.

4. Cerulean

Cerulean, an emerging color from this past summer, is a continuing on within swimwear for the year ahead. Up +14% in searches to last year, we saw this color appear in vibrant floral and ocean-inspired prints as well as in statement-making solids. Plus, this color was prominently featured among cover-ups like the wrap skirt and kimono, too.

5. Florals

Ditsy vintage florals were key prints at Gran Canaria, unlike tropical floral prints that we have seen in season’s past. The floral bikini is already up +26% in market adoption to last year and sure to grow throughout next summer.

6. Halter Bikini

Though the triangle bikini is a classic silhouette, the halter bikini was a top trend at Gran Canaria. This trend was prominent in several iterations—think criss-cross straps, high-neck halter tops, and scoop halters. Halter bikinis are currently up +273% among key influencers on social media.

7. Lilac

Another hue first seen on the ready-to-wear runways, lilac is ready for its comeback next year. Currently, this soft hue has an “extreme” search volume of 125k average weekly searches, which we expect to see continue throughout next year. This color was popular seen in solid bikinis that felt extraordinarily special when dosed with added shine.

8. One-Shoulder

One-shoulder swimsuits proved to be a key silhouette at Gran Canaria. Currently experiencing 1k average weekly searches, this asymmetric style was prominent among one pieces while appearing on several bikini’s, too. We expect this trend to gain traction through next summer.

9. Ruffles

Ruffles continue to be a detail to watch within swimwear. For a feminine feel, ruffle straps and hems on bikinis were a sweet addition while one-pieces included the detail with diagonal ruffles across the bodice or along a v-neckline. The ruffle one piece is having a moment online, up +167% among key influencers.

10. Animal Print

Animal prints were spotted among collections; however, we are seeing less of leopard print as designers are opting for other animal-inspired prints instead. Snakeskin is the new it-print, and the snakeskin bikini proved to be popular, up +133% in market adoption to last year. Similarly, the zebra bikini is a runner-up, experiencing a +13% increase in market adoption.
